Property Description
Real Estate in Mongerbino
For many years, Villa Luminosa (‘the Bright House’) has belonged to a wealthy family of entrepreneurs from northern Italy, who had this unique property designed by a famous Milanese architect. The spectacular location is the cherry on the cake – or perhaps we should say ‘the traditional Sicilian cassata‘!
As the children of the family now spend their holiday elsewhere and the older couple themselves are now only rarely able to come to Sicily, they have reluctantly decided to sell the villa.
The first impression is dominated by the play between the formalized, almost Bauhaus-like architecture and natural stones. The crisp white blocks of the facade meet the azure sky and turquoise sea, creating a striking tension.
Furnishings
You enter the villa through a ground floor hallway and enter the large salon with sea view, in which there is an open fireplace. The salon is approximately 50m2 and of very elegant design. The kitchen, one bathroom and one bedroom are also on the ground floor. A staircase leads to the landing, off which are two bedrooms and two modern bathrooms.
Throughout the house, the warm red tones of the tiles, the exposed masonry, white walls and the color-changing exposed channels of the power cables make for an unusual and striking combination.
The villa is maintained in excellent condition as a worker regularly takes care of the house and garden.
Surroundings
The villa is located in Mongerbino, a wonderful coastal spot between Palermo and Cefalù. Palermo is the biggest city in Sicily, with an international airport connecting to all major European destinations within a few hours. It was also the Italian Capital of Culture in 2018, and has an incredible, centuries long history. The nearest larger town is Bagheria, which has extensive infrastructure and a rich cultural scene of its own. Some of our team live in the area and we would be delighted to introduce you to the thriving expat community to help you settle in.
Potential
The property is inhabitable all year round and would make a great source of income as a rental property if you are planning to use it as a second home, or if you’re thinking of investing in Sicily as a purely business decision. There are significant tax breaks offered by the local government to people who become resident here, but if you won’t be in the area to manage the property yourself, we have decades of experience in this field and a bulging local contact book, and would be delighted to look after this for you.
