Surroundings

The centre of the typical Sicilian village of Rodì Milici is only 200 metres away. Home to about 2,200 inhabitants, it has a couple of welcoming bars, some good restaurants and a mini market just at the end of your road. We can even introduce you to a few of your new neighbours.

There is a beautiful sandy beach just ten minutes up the road, but the region has low tourism and remains quiet and very safe. Beyond the shore are the Aeolian Islands, a remarkable archipelago that includes some of the most active volcanic land in the world. You can visit them (entirely safely!) by a regular ferry service from the port of Milazzo, about a half hour drive towards Messina.

Messina is the biggest city in the region, and the gateway to the Italian mainland. Further down the east coast you will come to glamorous Taormina, reachable in about eighty minutes. Catania has the nearest international airport, and the one in Palermo is also within driving distance if you need to.

Explorers will adore the natural park of the Nebrodi Mountains, lying directly to the west of Rodì Milici. The largest such reserve in Sicily, it’s home to all manner of great options for hiking, biking and trekking. Rare birds circle the highest peaks of the range, and the Nebrodi Black Pig is a symbol of the region and a staple of its cuisine. The dramatic, smoky Mount Etna begins to rise are just 25 kilometres to the south.

Potential

No work needs to be done at all on Castello Rosso… other than the condominium fees you won’t have to pay a penny beyond the agreed sale price.
